Drawing From Experience Ahead of University

A Child Member is going to be drawing from experience when she goes to university, thanks to a course supported by Skill-builder Plus.

Florence, 17, who is starting at Leeds Art University in September, completed a three day life drawing course to help her illustrate the human body.

The course was led by an experienced tutor and covered a variety of techniques and art materials, as well as featuring three professional life drawing models.

Florence said: “I really did enjoy the life drawing course and I’m so grateful to the eaga Trust for helping me to complete it.

“I am going on to study an illustration degree this September, so this course was very helpful in terms of developing my art skills and knowledge in preparation.”

"Our daughter is thrilled to bits to be receiving the Bursary. I just want to personally say thank you to everyone at the Trust for making this available.”

As well as Skill-builder Plus, Florence has also accessed the Higher Education Bursary to help her and her family with the day-to-day living costs that come with university.

Developed using data provided during Trust Share 2017, and drawing on independent research, eligible Members and Child Members can receive up to £13,500 over three years of full time study.

Liz, Florence’s mum, said: “Our daughter is thrilled to bits to be receiving the Bursary. I just want to personally say thank you to everyone at the Trust for making this available.”

Skill-builder Plus is funding that Members can use for a range of opportunities, from professional training to personal development courses. Child Members (over the age of 16) have a £1,000 training fund themselves.
